Collateral accepts submissions year round; however, because we are affiliated with a university and run on an academic schedule, there can be occasional delays in our response times. We appreciate your patience as we carefully review every submission and request that you please wait six months before querying about the status of your submission.

How to send us your work:
We accept submissions only through our electronic submission system.
We do not accept submissions through postal services or email.
For manuscript submissions, we prefer Word or PDF files.

Formatting your manuscript:
All manuscripts should be in 12-point type, with at least one-inch margins, and sequentially numbered pages. Fiction and nonfiction should be double-spaced. The author’s name, address, telephone number, and email address should be typed at the top of the first page. Contributors are asked to include a brief biographical note with their submissions.

Timing:
Submissions may be sent to us at any time, year-round.
Because Collateral is run by writers on an academic timeline, we ask that you wait 4-6 months before querying on the status of your submission.

Collateral acquires first serial internet rights to the pieces we publish. All other rights remain with the author.
